My Top 7 Road Trip Essentials

Since many of us aren’t flying, I’m declaring 2020 the year of the road trip!

I love driving, so that actually suits me just fine. I find it very relaxing to listen to some tunes, open up the windows, and let the wind blow through my hair. I like being able to stop when I need to and travel on my own terms. Plus, I don’t know about you, but I could certainly use a change of scenery right about now!

Since road trips are bound to be the more popular mode of travel for most of us, I thought I’d share some of my favorite road trip essentials. Packing up these things reminds me how exciting and fun even a short trip can be!

  • Sunscreen. Protect that skin! Bonus points for coral-reef safe to protect the environment as well!

  • Mask. Keep it safe by bringing at least one mask per day of your trip. I stash a few extras in the car. Old Navy has some inexpensive packs of 5 or 10 masks with adjustable ear straps, which makes it easy to always have a clean one on hand.

  • Hand sanitizer. Another 2020 essential, am I right? I keep a small bottle just for the car to use after running into a store, bathroom, or pumping gas.

  • A comfy outfit. My all-time favorite pieces are the IME Maria Tee, Candy Crop Leggings, and Candy Sports Bra just in case I decide to sneak in an impromptu workout. Or to be honest, because that’s the most comfortable, softest outfit ever for sitting for hours in a car!

  • Reusable water bottle. Hydration is a must! It’s nice to be able to refill and save plastic, and I love the insulated water bottles that will keep your water icy cold for the whole day!

  • Healthy but yummy snacks. I like to bring some fresh fruit along with something packaged that will not go bad, like Terra chips, granola bars, trail mix, or pita chips.

  • A backpack. I like using a backpack more than a handbag when I’m traveling because I find I’m always carrying extra stuff, like my water bottle, sunscreen, and a sweater. I also like having a little extra space to store any small purchases I make along the way.

Travel is one of the things so many of us look forward to and get excited about, and in this crazy year where we need something to look forward to or get excited about more than ever, I hope that you’ll take a little getaway, even if it’s just an overnight trip to the water or a day trip to the woods for a hike.

Wishing you happy and safe travels!
